Holnut is a small, family-run startup that’s redefining how nuts can be enjoyed in everyday life. We don’t just sell nuts; we’re on a mission to educate and inspire, showcasing the incredible health benefits and versatile uses of nuts in daily meals and snacks.

Our primary focus is on hazelnuts and hazelnut-based products. But our vision doesn't stop there — while hazelnuts are our first love, we're excited to explore other nuts in the future.

Our goal is to help and support health-conscious individuals discover how to make nuts a delicious and nutritious part of their lives, provided they can safely enjoy them without allergies.

The Crunchy Journey So Far 

Our First Crunch,‌ Our Spark

It was a sunny day by the Parramatta River in Meadowbank, Sydney. I was chatting with a friend while the kids played nearby. At some point, we opened a pack of hazelnuts to snack on. They were good, but they just didn’t hit the mark. They lacked the taste we remembered from home: crunchy, aromatic, and full of character. When I mentioned it, my friend, half-joking, suggested we should look into bringing high-quality hazelnuts to people here.


Later on, I mentioned the idea to my wife, Hazel. As a true hazelnut lover, I was sure she’d support me but I didn’t expect her to go even further and become my tireless partner in this journey. From that moment on, we’ve been in it together, shoulder to shoulder.


Both Hazel and I loved nut products and relied on them daily to feel and function at our best. Of course, hazelnuts were our favourite. As a software developer and former calisthenics trainee, I knew how much my brain and muscles needed what hazelnuts had to offer. Hazel, being active and committed to fitness, also depended on a nutritious diet. For both of us, hazelnuts became an important source of protein and fibre.


Knowing how nutritious and delicious hazelnuts are, we started asking ourselves — how could we bring truly high-quality hazelnut products to more people? That simple moment sparked our journey.

Cracked the Shell,‌ Nutting It Out

Since we knew they are not only healthy and nutritious but also delicious, we had to find a way to help others enjoy the taste and gain the benefits for brain function, heart health, and muscle strength.

That moment, we embarked on an exciting journey. Our strategy was:
- We began researching and educating people about the benefits of hazelnuts, especially compared to other common nuts like peanuts, walnuts, and cashews.
- We experimented with different recipes to flavor hazelnuts so more people could enjoy them. We tried salted, chocolate-coated, cinnamon-roasted, rosemary-roasted, and more. After several trials and feedback from prospects, we introduced eight different varieties of our hazelnut products to customers through our catering and retail partners, including grocery stores, cafes, and pubs in early 2025.
- In total, we tested hundreds of recipes through trial and error, constantly innovating and finding new ways to bring hazelnuts into familiar foods and baked goods. We worked to incorporate and integrate them with other products, trying muffins, croissants, swirls, Yorkshire puddings, bread loaves, and more. After several trials and valuable feedback from prospects, we introduced three different varieties of our hazelnut bakery products to customers in June 2025.
